Dricus du Plessis Ranked 8th in Boksburg Fighting Championships

In a shocking turn of events that has left the MMA world in stitches, Dricus du Plessis, the undisputed UFC Middleweight Champion, has found himself ranked a humble 8th in the prestigious Boksburg Fighting Championships (BFC). Despite his recent triumph over Israel Adesanya, it appears that the rough-and-tumble residents of Boksburg have a different set of criteria for their champions.

“Sure, Dricus might be the best in the world, but can he handle a bar fight at the local pub on a Friday night?” questioned BFC President, Koos van der Merwe. “Here in Boksburg, we value real-world experience. It’s not just about fancy moves in the octagon; it’s about surviving a night out in Boksburg.”

The BFC, known for its no-holds-barred approach to fighting, has a reputation for producing some of the toughest fighters in South Africa. “We’ve got guys who can take a punch from a rhino and still ask for another round,” boasted local legend, Jannie “The Hammer” Botha, currently ranked 2nd in the BFC. “Dricus is good, but he’s got a lot to learn about Boksburg-style fighting.”

Du Plessis, who has been training in Pretoria, was reportedly taken aback by his ranking. “I thought winning the UFC title would mean something,” he said, shaking his head. “But apparently, I need to spend more time in Boksburg’s pubs and less time in the gym.”

The BFC ranking system is as unique as its fighters. Points are awarded not just for victories in the ring, but also for feats such as “Most Creative Use of a Bar Stool” and “Longest Time Spent in a Pub Without Getting Kicked Out.” Du Plessis, it seems, has some catching up to do.

In an effort to improve his ranking, Du Plessis has announced plans to spend more time in Boksburg, immersing himself in the local culture. “I’ve already signed up for a crash course in Boksburg street fighting,” he said. “And I’ve got a few pub crawls lined up. I’m determined to prove myself.”

As the MMA world watches with bated breath, one thing is clear: Dricus du Plessis may be the king of the octagon, but in Boksburg, he’s just another contender trying to make a name for himself.
